Hospitality As Jesus and the prophets remind us repeatedly, we are to show the poor and hungry compassion by feeding, clothing, and sheltering. Economic pressures on the weakest members of our community mean that they often go hungry or live on "empty" calories. It is incumbent on us who have much, we believe, to share what we have with others while respecting their dignity. Indeed, it is our duty and our joy to reach out with open hands and hearts. In Hebrews we are reminded that in showing hospitality to our brothers and sisters we "entertain angels unawares." |
